Day 5: A Song That Reminds You Of Someone

I’ve Got All This Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers - Fall Out Boy

I chose this song because it’s the one I originally wanted to post when I first did this.  The chorus has more meaning to me than the verses.  It’s weird how I take only certain parts of a song to mean something to me and disregard the rest.  I’m not one to hold onto things, but I admit I have a lot of anger, and no matter what I say to them, I don’t think it could ever sink in.  It’s really sad more than anything.  Here’s to forgiveness one day…

.

I feel like I should write something entitled “This Song’s Not About You”…because I can guarantee it isn’t and yes this is a public forum.  This is about hurtful words that were said in front of me years ago…so relax…and enjoy the music…

Jack’s Mannequin

Having a very hard time trying to listen to Jack’s Mannequin’s new album “People and Things”…it’s all slow, and yea slow stuff…the best album was the first then it kind of went downhill…I saw them in concert when the first album came out and it was great.  They even played a song from Something Corporate (which I’m also lucky enough to have seen).  But at this rate I’m ready to say goodbye to Jack’s Mannequin.

Something Corporate please just get back together already! I’ve heard rumors for awhile and…yea…just rumors.

Day 4: A Song That Makes You Sad

Lily’s Theme - Alexandre Desplat

The opening of Deathly Hallows killed me, especially Snape overlooking Hogwarts…and that’s all I think of.  It was beautifully written and orchestrated which is why I chose it.  To be honest, I have more songs that make me angry than they do sad, so this was a better choice.  I highly recommend the Deathly Hallows Part 2 soundtrack…it’s a masterpiece.

I find it strange…

that I like the demo version of What the Water Gave Me better

Day 3: A Song That Makes You Happy

1901 - Phoenix

I get made fun of on occasion for listening/looking up commercial songs, but if I never did this, I would’ve never gotten into Phoenix, which would’ve been a shame.  This is one of those songs that I always have to have playing on a long drive, it just makes me want to get up and go.

Day 2: Your Least Favorite Song

Live Like You Were Dying - Tim McGraw

This song is up here for personal reasons, granted I’m not a huge fan of country.  Very few things will make me leave a room and this is one of them.  It’s too close to what happened to my godfather and what my family went through.  The part that made it worse was this song was extremely popular at the time.  So forgive me if you like it, just don’t listen to it while I’m around.

Day 1: Your Favorite Song

Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind

This album is amazing, their first and self-titled.  Although my brother and I call it the “Red Album.”  On the back of the booklet, there are 4 squares, one red, one blue, one green, and one yellow.  Yes I was slightly mad that Ursa Major wasn’t yellow…but all was forgiven for some of the new tracks (::cough:: bonfire ::cough::).

.

Anyway, I think this song will stay my favorite song for all time, there’s just so much about it I love and some of it is not explainable.

Guts - All Time Low

I am absolutely in love with this album currently.  I had a conversation with a friend recently because we’ve indulged ourselves in sooo much new music in the past two weeks…really we’ve splurged.  But we talked about how there are certain artists that we wont bother researching the music, we will just go out and buy the album.  And I think All Time Low deserves to be on my lists of such artists, I saw the album, had no clue they had a new one out, shrugged, and bought it.  And I’m so glad I did, the only reason I haven’t listened to the whole album yet is because I get so excited to listen to the tracks I’ve already listened to.  I am in love with the album.

Back To Life - Rock Kills Kid

I bought this album (Are You Nervous?) about 5 years ago.  I really liked the sound of it, reminded me of the rock I listened to in school, different from some of the “pop-y” stuff out there now.  I would be willing to bet that some people will think most of the album sounds the same.  But I still like everything on it, plus not bad for a first album…Now they need to continue…

Gorgeous (demo) - Third Eye Blind *never released

The more b sides I find…the more I wish they were on an album.  However, most were written w/their old guitarist and will probably never be released :(
