I must be having jazz withdrawal or something. I apologize that this is another Jamie Cullum song…well sort of.

Brain Radio (music that pops into my head) - “If I Ruled the World” - Jamie Cullum

soo throughout the day, random songs pop into my head…I’ll try to post them here.  I absolutely love Jamie Cullum and how he’s put jazz back on the map.  He has a very broad range of music and sound…

Music Artist: Jamie Cullum

One of my favorite UK artists (well I have many) is Jaime Cullum.  He is considered a pop jazz musician, but what I love is that most of his tracks are based on what I call the core 3…piano, stand up bass, and drum set.  That is probably my favorite type of jazz, granted I love all the many different categories of it.  It’s raw, grounded music but at the same time new, sometimes poppy, and fresh.  He also has a unique voice (big fan of those).  The first two songs I heard sophomore year of college, I instantly fell in love with: High & Dry (I believe originally a Radiohead song? although I prefer Jamie’s version) and All at Sea.  I’ve been addicted ever since.  A good amount of songs that he has out are jazz classics but he puts his own spin on them.  He also likes to take new songs by popular artists and jazz them up a little.  I think it’s great because his albums contain a wide variety of sounds.  Train (the band) worked with him on their most recent record, Save Me, San Francisco, and listed Jamie Cullum as one of their first people to thank.  Recently, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his song “Gran Torino,” from the soundtrack of that film.  If you like music with heavy piano influence or are looking for something a little bit different, check him out!
